Why is SSC CHSL a Great Challenge?



In India, SSC CHSL exam is a very popular and admired recruitment exam. SSC CHSL exam stands for Staff Selection commission Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) exam. As the eligibility criterion of this exam is Class 12th pass, it is the most popular exam among Indian youth.  According to a legal notice released by SSC (Staff Selection Commission), CHSL Tier 1 exam 2107, was conducted at 442 venues in 101 cities. There were 63, 49, 545 registered candidates across the country while 26, 51,962 candidates have taken the examination.  It shows the colossal strength of the competition and enormous expectations of the Indian youth from this competitive exam. Even, this year, there are around 3259 posts where 15 million applicants will be appearing for the exam. It implies that the success rate is only 0.21%, indicating the high level of the competition.
  1. Three Tiers To clear for Selection
 Let us understand the selection criterion for the exam. SSC CHSL is conducted in three tiers. Tier 1 is the preliminary exam, which will have 100 MCQ’s to be done in only 60 minutes (1 hour). It will be followed by Tier 2, the descriptive test. Finally, there will be Tier 3, which will be computer proficiency test. The selection process is a long tedious journey which will have many levels of difficulty for the applicants.

 Before going for the preparations, let us not forget that the syllabus of SSC CHSL exam is very vast and elaborate. There are four subjects- Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language and General Awareness. It will take substantial time to complete the entire syllabus. Normally speaking, the syllabus of this exam is even larger than Preliminary exams of PO (Probationary Officer) post of some banks.

 Last year, the cutoff for general category was 127, which implies that you need at least 64 attempts (with 100% accuracy) to crack the exam. If we interpret this data into one question per minute, it would imply that the aptitude level of the applicant has to be very high to crack the exam. Hence, the selection for SSC CHSL demands a high cutoff which means the applicant has to prepare the entire syllabus well with maximum accurateness in answering the questions.

How to face SSC CHSL exam?
As discussed earlier, cracking competitive exam like SSC CHSL can be very tough but not impossible, if one has done good preparations. There are some tips which should be kept in mind while preparing for the exam. The preparation tips for SSC CHSL are as follows:-
